I can't remember when I first heard about the Stelvio Pass, but as soon as I did I wanted to go there and ride my bike up it! My France 2009 trip gave me the chance to realise this dream.
Described by Top Gear as one of the best driving roads in Europe (although I think many people have disputed this accolade since!), it is still an impressive piece of tarmac and I wanted to ride it.
I planned a two week round trip of France with a short hop into Switzerland and Italy to take in the Pass.
Overall, I rode 2,600 miles; didn't have a drop of rain and enjoyed every mile of it! (click below to play route!)

Travelling to the IOM for the day was tiring but well worth it for a very exciting final Senior Race! Tragic news that John Crellin has died following an incident at the Mountain Box during the Senior TT race after coming third in the morning TTXGP Race Open Class.
